Meadowfoam seed oil, one of 45 nutrient-rich ingredients in Bath + Body Fusion Skin FX Elixir, has an incredible backstory. Native to the wetland prairies of the Pacific Northwest, this moisture-loving plant blooms a brilliant yellow and white-tipped flower. This flower is harvested each June for its high stability seed oil.
Essential Emollient
Meadowfoam oil contains more than 98 percent long-chain fatty acids. The unique chemical properties of this chain of fatty acids gives meadowfoam oil its high oxidative stability. This oxidative stability helps create a protective seal over the skin to lock in moisture and keep the free radicals out. What’s more, meadowfoam oil does not leave a greasy feeling when applied to your skin like some other emollients.
In addition to its oxidative properties, meadowfoam oil makes an ideal carrier oil for other essential oils and scents. Meadowfoam oil compliments the other natural ingredients in Skin FX Elixir to tighten, brighten and hydrate skin. You could say that it works well with others!

Prior to the 1970s, sperm whale oil was used as a cosmetic emollient, a softening agent used to soothe the skin, in most skincare and hair products.
